The fourth match of the season saw the RCL/CSCE U17s travel to Kibubu near Brussels. Perfect autumn conditions welcomed the team rather more warmly than the makeshift changing rooms deep in the bowels of a car park! Considering the number of players who are new to Rugby this season, and indeed a few who were playing their first game, the Luxembourg team gelled remarkably well with good aggressive rucking and some elusive running soon paying off. Kibubu are also a new team with several debutante players this season and a combination of some of the RCL and CSCE more seasoned players and some spirited performances from the newcomers proved too much for the home team. RCL/CSCE started quickly and soon got points on the board. A few missed tackles briefly let Kibubu back into the game, but RCL/CSCE soon re-established their superiority, eventually winning the game 42-20 with tries from Hamish Cullen (3), Robert Hopwood, Johannes Vasques, Andreas Hacker and Sean Ferreira. RCL/CSCE are now second in the league, with Nivelles top of the league by virtue of having played one more game. We enter a rest period now until 12th November, which will give us a chance to work on fitness and continue to enhance the skills of the many newcomers. The goal of promotion is well on track with four wins and four bonus points from four games.
